โ€” In loving memory of

Chefs who shaped who we are.

Two chefs we lost along the way โ€” but whose recipes, hospitality, and spirit continue to live through PichaEats. Their stories are part of ours.

ZazaIn loving memory

Chef Mohamad Sad Zaza

Syrian ยท With us, 2016โ€“2017

A professional chef with 14 years of culinary experience, Zaza fled Syria with his wife Rania and son Taim. Two weeks before he passed, on his hospital bed, he spoke about wanting to cook Chicken Mandi for people in need around the masjid during Ramadan. The Zaza Movement was born from that wish and continues today.

OsamaIn loving memory

Chef Osama Alatassi

Syrian ยท With us, 2019โ€“2026

Osama discovered cooking as a boy, feeding his younger brothers when his mother was busy. His chef father taught him the rest. He once said: "I just feel better in the kitchen." Even after fleeing Syria's civil war, the kitchen remained where he was most himself - building a life and a livelihood for his family in Malaysia, one meal at a time.
